I BG non sono mai stati epic metal, tantomeno puro, che è tutt'altro (e tantomeno lo sono gruppi come Rhapsody e compagnia e né gli ispiratori di tutto questo campo in ogni variazione avuta negli anni, e cioè gli Helloween ovviamente). Ne hanno sempre avuto al massimo qualche elemento e caratteristica, ma sono sempre stati molto più power-speed e poi sempre più sinfonici, pomposi e "prog" con gli anni. E intendendo con power, speed e dintorni il tipo europeo, perché poi c'è anche quello americano che mediamente è molto diverso da sempre ma si chiama uguale (anzi, per qualcuno è l'unico tipo di power metal esistente, quello USA), i cui capostipiti sono gruppi come Metal Church, Vicious Rumors, Riot e tanti altri storici o più recenti. Epic metal per antonomasia, che è sicuramente un genere da sempre più americano che europeo al contrario di quello che pensano tanti bamboretti o ignoranti vari, sono i Manowar (i primi dischi soprattutto, poi anche loro hanno inglobato sempre più elementi power-sinfonici), i Manilla Road, gli Omen (epic-power diciamo), I Virgin Steele (molto vari cmq tra i dischi e nel tempo, ma elementi netti di epic metal li hanno sempre avuti) e altri tra cui tante band culto davvero, conosciute poco o nulla a volte anche dai metallari stessi, anche perché hanno fatto in certi casi solo roba non ufficiale o un ep e cose così e poi magari album o raccolte postume, uscite quando erano già sciolti da anni (tipo i Medieval Steel per dirne uno).
I'm so glad Thomen is here. I fucking love that guy, all of the albums he has played on, Blind Guardian, Savage Circus, Serious Black, all of them pure gold. All of these guys are fucking awesome. Thanks for making this video, I was smiling the whole way through!
I saw them first time, when I was 15 years old in Trier/Exhaus. I'm still a great fan of BG. Now, I can't imagine what BG would sound like without Hansi being on vocals. So I was really surprised to learn here that he did not want to be a singer in the first place!
I'm so glad to see Thomen, the Legend again! And of course I'm going to buy the first five re-releases on vinyl, I've been waiting for this to happen for years.
Thank you very much for posting this! It is really nice to see these guys, who are so inspirational, talking about their first steps. I`d love to have the opportunity to meet them and to say thanks for making my life much better with their music!
Hate to say that, but despite growing up with Thomen on drums, in my opinion Frederick is the better (or better to say more suitable for BG) drummer. Nevertheless... great seeing him again :-) .
@@jochenmuller6757 I disagree. Frederick seems like a nice guy but since he joined the band the classic Guardian sound started deteriorating. Drums started sounding plastic (to be fair, this started happenning on ANATO but Frederick didn't fix it - he just made it worse), double-bass drums speed went down the drain and the overall drum approach seems over-simplified to me, especially when I listen to him playing Thomen's parts. As a fan of the band for 22 years I appreciate Frederick's effort, but when Thomen left the band Guardian lost part of their magic imho.
Kaliph Khaos I think one of the main reasons the drums started to sound ”plastic” spells - Charlie Bauerfiend!! Everything he touches sounds exactly the same!!!
I love seeing these guys interact as friends and not just the best band in the world.

I agree, i like Frederick but blind guardian changed alot after Thomen left.
